Kirti Bardhan obtained his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Vishwavidhylaya, Jabalpur. He completed his post graduation with major in Crop Physiology from N. M. College of Agriculture, Navsari Agricultural University, Gujarat.  He joined as an Assistant Professor of Crop Physiology in the ASPEE College of Horticulture and Forestry at Navsari Agricultural University from June 2010. Earlier he worked as research associate at the main cotton research station, surat from Oct 2007. His research interest mainly focuses on understanding root responses of food grains crop to the soil environment.

Kirti has delighted opportunity of shaping next-generation agriculture/horticulture/forestry science graduate. Though one of the major challenges in plant science teaching is student’s low interest and motivation because in schools they were taught more about human and animals. And thus many people lost to know how fascinating the plants are. This is probably one of the reasons that lower numbers of bright minds are pursuing their education in agriculture and plant science. Inspiring the next generation of plant scientists and improving student competence in all areas of crop science has been Kirti’s motivation in recent years by the use of active learning pedagogy. He has actively engaged in many courses of undergraduate and postgraduate level in agriculture, horticulture and forestry faculty.

Failures/Rejections

2017    Failed to Secure ICAR-International Fellowship

Each year ICAR inviting application for Netaji-Subhas ICAR International Fellowship from Indian and Foreigner candidate to pursue doctoral research in abroad and in India, respectively with an objective to develop competent human resource by providing funding for pursuing Ph. D. in ICAR identified universities in abroad and identified priority research areas. As per fellowship guidelines, before the fellowship application submission, I have to secure admission in identified abroad institute with identified research priority area. I have got admission in Kansas State University under the supervision of Dr Krishna Jagdish S V, Associate Professor (Abiotic Stress Physiology) and submitted my candidature to ICAR for funding support. After shortlisting my candidature, I was shortlisted and appeared for the interview on 5th Oct 2017 but finally could not make a place in the list of successful candidates.

2015    Failed to Secure Flinders International Post Graduate Research Scholarship (FIPRS), Australia

As per FIPRS guidelines and prerequisite, besides fulfilling University and Fellowship eligibility criteria, I have to search a prospective research supervisor and Dr James Stangoulis, Associate Professor (Plant Biology) from Flinders University accepted my candidature to supervise for doctoral research at Flinders University. I applied for the fellowship but failed to secure a place in available 10 positions for international students in different faculties of the university.

2013    Failed to secure graduate assistant at Washington State University, USA.

I had applied for Doctoral programme with seeking graduate assistance at Department of Crop and Soil Science, WSU, Pullman during fall 2013. My application was kept “on hold” and reconsidered in the subsequent spring semester, but finally, could not able to secure financial assistance for the doctoral programme.

2009    Failed to get selected in Agricultural Research Services (ARS)-ICAR

I have appeared in ARS-ICAR examination during 2009 in the discipline of Plant Physiology and got shortlisted and interviewed by selection committee but finally failed to make a place in available eight positions.
